St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the guiding light and heavenly patron of Chavara Cultural Centre, was a visionary educationist, social reformer, and spiritual leader whose life was dedicated to the upliftment of society through faith, education, and compassion.Born in Kainakary, Kerala, in 1805, St. Chavara co-founded the Congregation of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) and initiated several groundbreaking reforms in education and social welfare. He established the first Sanskrit school open to all, irrespective of caste or creed, laying the foundation for Kerala’s inclusive educational progress. Inspired by his teachings and vision, the Chavara Cultural Centre continues to promote education, culture, and social harmony.
